Safe, central area to stay in Barcelona

Hi there, my boyfriend and I will be going to Barcelona for the first time next April for 3 night, but I have no idea what neighbourhoods are the best to stay in? Ideally, I would like a hotel in a safe are that is centrally located but I don't mind using the metro or walking a bit. My budget is £80-100 per night, so if anyone has any hotel recommendations that would be great!

Thank you!

kk:

The Plaza de Catalunya is the center of town. If you find a hotel near there you can walk to many sights.

Just stayed in the Hotel Azul, for 3 days

Not only a very good hotel, ideal for many things

On the aeroport bus route

Located a short walk from Plaza Espanya

Plaza Espanya very central for several metro lines

Magic fountains only a short walkable distance

Several other tourist attractions nearby by( camp Nou)

Never felt worried here at all, most nights we arrived back at hotel 10.00pm+

Hotel Atlantis on c/Pelai. You usually get a better rate on booking.com rather than the hotel's own website.

Hotel Azul is one of quite a few hotels near Plaça Espanya. Most are 4-star so that will be a cheaper option. It's not as central as Plaça Catalunya but to get to the harbour and beaches is just as good and is perfect for the sights on Monjuic.

It's also a less tourist-oriented neighbourhood (i mean local shops and restaurants are aimed at locals)

Another point I forgot to mention about Plaza Espanya & Hotel Azul

The D20 bus is great for the Nou camp (one end of route) and the port/marina/La Rambala ( the other end of the route) as well, should u want to avoid the metro
