Where to have lunch on La Merce bank holiday, 24th Sept.?

Foodwise I'm sorted for all other days during my forthcoming 5-day trip but just noticed when looking at my itinerary that I've nothing booked for the main day of the La Merce Festival. What can I expect? Will locals all eat out for lunch and will restaurants be exceptionally busy? I suppose it makes sense to book somewhere in advance but am not quite sure where? Looking for Catalan/Spanish/Mediterranean cuisine. Am solo traveller so needs to be a cosy, inviting place where I'd be comfortable. Don't want to spend more than €25-30. Any ideas?

Restaurants may be (or may be not) busy with tourists but La Mercé is definitely not a "sit down" celebration for us locals. There is so much to see and do that we usually just have a sandwich on the go from a place to another, or a quick bite now and then, in the food stalls in the festival areas or any bar nearby. I would suggest you doing the same :)

I agree. This is how we did it last year. With the exception of two sit-down lunches at La Paradeta in the Born and Goliard in Gracià, everything else we ate during La Mercè came from a bar or a food shop. I love eating in bars. I think it's a great way to experience Spanish life, and the food is often very good.

Sounds good. Thank you both. Will just go with the flow. I remember Pandachris saying he found it difficult to find the time to eat during La Merce ;-)
