Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou - getting there & new year!

Hi - we are students and first timers on a budget and staying at the Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou. Can anyone let us know the bus or metro and which stop to get off at please. We are there for 5 days so wondered if a bus ticket would be better over the whole period too?

Finally - we are there for new year and wondered if there are any cheap but great places to go?

looking forward to it

thanks

Do get a T-10 travel card as soon as you land. If you're arriving into terminal T2, do take the train to Barcelona. At the booth ask for a "T-10 for zone 1" -it'll cost you 9.80€ and give you 10 journeys on different transports (bus, metro, tram and train) within zone 1 (basically the zone you're going to stay!). Check this forum for other posts on how to use this travel card as -good news for you!- you can do transfers between different means of transportation which will discount only one journey on your card. There are limitations though so read the posts.

To go to Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou get the train to Passeig de Gràcia, transfer to Metro line 4 (yellow) direction La Pau and stop at Llacuna (6 stops), then walk 200m to your destination. If you're arriving into Terminal 1 instead say so and we'll give you an alternative.

Food-wise, as we've mentioned in the forums many times, most restaurants do offer a lunch menu for around 10-12€ which includes a starter, main dish, dessert and a drink (glass of wine/beer/soda). It's quite good value. But again, you have also a range of Turkish pita and durum type of places as well as Chinese -probably the cheapest restaurants in town [quality so so, rather bad :(]. There are also a few eat-all-you-can but not in downtown -as far as I know. Check also timeout.com/barcelona/restaurants/barcelonas…

For cheap/free activities you can have a look at: www.timeout.com/barcelona/cheap-barcelona and also the agenda of the web of the City Hall: guia.bcn.cat/guia-barcelona.html?idma=en (do filter the free activities)

Being students, get your international student card as it might get you some advantages in some museums (discounts, etc).

For 'nightlife', again, timeout.com/barcelona is a great source of info. One spot where a lot of youngsters do hang out is the Olympic Harbour, it's full of disco-bars and terraces. The 'in' places to be nowadays are Nitsa and Luz de Gas though. Google for it. For a posh club check the club at hotel Omm. But again, some other TAs will surely give you better advice on this, I'm a bit 'out' nowadays :))

You got an excellent reply by Enric above (hola Enric! :))

Just mind that the transfer from train to metro L4 in Passeig de Gràcia is awfully long (a few blocks), crowded, hot and boring. I would rather exit and walk on the surface :)

Or, esoecially if you arrive to T1 or you do not mind spending a few € more: take the Aerobús to its final stop in Catalunya, walk to Urquinaona (5 mins) and take there the metro L4.

Bon viatge!
