Cost for a taxi

We would like to take a taxi from the airport to our hotel. The hotel is the Renaissance close to Las Ramblas.

Does anybody know what the cost for a taxi will be to that area?

Do taxis take credit cards or only cash?

Is there a company that you can set up a pick up?

Taxis are outside the arrivals area and Barcelona airport taxi fares 25 - 30 euro, some taxis accept credit cards though have an amount of euros for your immediate arrival.

There is no need to arrange a pick-up, there are always plenty of taxis at the airport. (And a pick-up will cost you more generally.)

Ask for credit card payment before getting in. Take the next one if they only take cash. (Also, a lot of the taxis that take cards have the card logos on a sticker on the passenger door. But ask first anyway because sometimes they claim that the "machine does not work".)

I'd expect the price to be around 30-35€ (rather than 25-30€), especially from T1.

I concur with @kbbcn.

Also note the cost will vary depending on the traffic (duh!) and the time of the day -or whether it's a week-end or a bank holiday- as there are three applicable tariffs. From the cheapest named T1* (week-days from 8am-8pm) to the most expensive there can be a 30% difference.

(*) Yeah T1, like the airport terminal, but it has NOTHING to do with that!!
