... hi Mamadoop... not that it's anything of my business, but I found quite strange that a hostel in the centre wouldn't have anyone speaking English... so I just called them. I spoke to an Indian receptionist and this is what he told me: Mr. Parta (10:30am-3pm and 7pm-10pm) and Mr. Sugit (after 11pm) are there and both do speak English. Note these are names not surnames.

Having said that, for 100-120€ (per day) you can surely find more suitable accommodations. Have you thought about an apartment? At booking.com there are indeed better choices... http://bit.ly/1hKmP5O

1.) Don't be paranoic about 'a central location', Barcelona is a compact city and it's very easy to go from one end to the other on public tranportation which is totally safe, clean and cheap. So my advice is that you don't necessarily limit yourself to the strict centre. Furthermore, we hardly have any residential-only districts, all of them are full of life: shops, restaurants, etc. so it's nice to be f.e. in Gràcia or in Poble Nou without being the strict centre. Familiarize yourself with the neighbourhoods: …wordpress.com/2012/03/barris_bcn.jpg

2.) What about a B&B?, some are very cozy. I recently had the chance to pick up a friend at barcelonabb.com and it seemed a great place. Also, check out hostals (small hotels with basic amenities: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostal) and B&Bs: Hostal Oliva (http://www.hostaloliva.com/), Casa Consell (http://www.casaconsell.com/), Hostal Goya (http://en.hostalgoya.com/), Hostal Khronos (http://www.hostalkhronos.com/), Casa Marcelo (http://www.casamarcelobarcelona.com/ENG/), Hostal Que Tal (http://www.quetalbarcelona.com/), El Balcón del Born (tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187497-d2287…), Hostal Mare Nostrum (http://www.hostalmarenostrum.com/)

Mamadoop

Please see my response to your other thread on this hostel, about leaving luggage by reception.

I can recommend the Hotel Continental, about 50m down Las Ramblas from Placa Catalunya. While it's very popular, and could be full, if they have rooms you might get a reduction for a late booking.

Or have a look at laterooms.com or lastminute.com.

Enric,

Some of those hostals do not take 3 people.

Mamadoop,

Those places listed above are available for your dates. There are lots of other choices within your budget but those 3 were my top choices. If you need more help, we are all here to help.

Casa Gracia looks good and includes free breakfast. Of course, you understand that a hostel tends to be more noisy and caters to a younger clientele.
