Certainly... the T-10 integrated travel card, which allows you travelling not only in train but also bus/metro and tramway. Besides, you're located within zone 1 (http://www.gencat.cat/rodalies/planol_en.htm zoom in and look at the bottom left!) so it's ideal (price-wise!). Note not every means of transportation is included in the T-10 (fe. no Aerobus, Blue Tram, harbour cable cars, Tibidabo funicular and some of the buses to suburban towns -ie. certain buses to Castelldefels!- among other) but it's the most widely used card by us locals. You need to purchase a T-10 for Zone 1.

NAME: T-10 travelcard

DESCRIPTION: multiperson 10 journey travel card for use in metro/bus/tram

COST: 10.30€ (as of 2014)

NOT VALID ON: Aerobus, Blue Tram, Tibidabo Funicular, Port Vell cable car, hoho buses...

BUYING THE T-10 AT THE AIRPORT

Customer Information at Terminal 1: +34 933 788 175

At the tobacco shop outside the terminal. It's open from very early in the morning until 8pm.

Customer Information at Terminal 2: +34 933 788 149

Only at the vending machines at the train station (300m from the terminal, at the end of this long corridor: …appspot.com/aeroport/…pasarela-tren-t2.jpg -the airport is to the left). The problem is that to take the regular #46 bus to the city using a T-10 one must first go to the train station to purchase the T-10 and then walk back to the terminal as the bus stop is located just outside (30m to the left). For this reason, one might consider paying a simple ticket for this journey (price 2.15€, buy it on board, to the driver) and then purchase a T-10 at any metro station in the city.

HOW TO USE THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ATMs TO PURCHASE A SINGLE TICKET OR A T-10 TRAVELCARD:

Please note you can press on a flag (bottom right in the screen) to change the language of the machine to English, German, French, etc. barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/faq/transport…

T-10 IS MULTIPERSON

Several people can use the same card, simply stick into the machine once per each person.

USING THE T-10

How it works here, barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/transport/bar… and how to move around here, http://www.tmb.cat/en/el-teu-transport and finally, should you need more, how to purchase a new T-10 at any metro station in the city, infocatalonia.eu/w/… But first have a general idea looking at the map of neighbourhoods, …wordpress.com/2012/03/barris_bcn.jpg and then the map of the metro, mapametrobarcelona.net/mapas-metro/mapa-metr…

NOT RISKING A FINE

Don't worry at all, simply validate when entering the metro and each time you board a new bus/tram and you're on the clear. Contrary to other cities where their transportation system relays on you taking some sort of active role (f.e. in Warsaw, if you buy a 20' ticket, you need to get off the bus before 20' or else risk a fine if you get caught), in Barcelona the system is rather idiot-proof: providing you validate as mentioned, everything else is dealt by the computers at the validating machines. The only thing you need to remember is that if you have a zone 1 travelcard, you can't travel to another zone. Note that the whole city of Barcelona and some neighbouring towns (fe. El Prat de Llobregat where the airport is located) are in zone 1, so no problem there! Check the map: mapametrobarcelona.net/mapas-metro/mapa-zona…

TICKETS LEFT

In order to know how many journeys you have left, look at the back of the travelcard: goingplaces.sg/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/ba… the last digit of each line indicates how many journeys has the card left. In the example: one (1). When the card is empty it will show "TITOL ESGOTAT" instead. Also, if you try to use an empty card at the bus, the machine will make a loud noise and a small red light will show. At the metro the turnstile simply won't open.
