HUTB# question

How can you tell if the HUTB # is actually for the apartment you are considering renting when there are no pictures or anything but the address listed?

I am interested in an apartment. At first it had no HUTB#. I emailed the agency, they sent back a numberBUT it was for a different apartment. OK an easy mistake as the name of the apartments are similar. But then they added that wrong # to the listing,( I didn't know they added the wrong # to the listing, someone on another thread pointed it out to me.) so the 2 apartments had the same #.

Not knowing that, I emailed the business to say they had given me the wrong #. They sent me another HUTB#. When I check out that number, it only has address.

I am becoming a bit leery of the agency; I REALLY like the apartment, but am concerned if their lack of attention is cause for concern.

It is the license number issued by Generalitat de Catalunya for tourist apartment numbers. These are required by law for apartment rentals.

Sorry for not explaining it better.

My understanding re: HUTB#

A law has been passed in Catalunya that states that all rentals for vacations must be registered. The law also states that any advert for the property must also show the licence number issued by the Generalitat de Catalunya. This number is called Habitatge d'Us Turistic. Key symbols will be shown as to the grading of the rental, if the property has been inspected by the Generalitat de Catalunya. However this is not obligatory.

Learning something new every day... :-)

I don't know where you look up the numbers (so it could be on that same page), but apparantly there is an official list:

…gencat.cat/rtcwebguies/…

You can enter that HUTB number in the ID number field for a search.

I did that, but all it showed was the HUBN# and an address. No pictures, no further information. Hence my question on how one would know that the HUBN# was for the ACTUAL apartment I wanted to rent.

Hi Debits2000,

People make mistakes, nobody can do everything perfectly and they probably have hundreds of emails like yours everyday, it´s not because they give you a wrong number that the company is now doing a "suspicious" activity or is not professional.

a good way to check on the company you are booking with is to actually call them on the phone, you will see the kind of people you are dealing with.

The hut number must match the address, the floor it's located on and the door number of the apartment.

here you can download the excel with all the huts for catalunya, it is the "Habitatges d'ús turístic" file, choose the tab "barcelona" and make a search for the hut, you will find the exact address of the apartment it matches.
