Tarragona train station

Planning a day trip whilst staying in Barcelona. The high speed train stops at Camp de Tarragona. This seems to be some way out of Tarragona itself . How does one then get to the centre ?

Thanks in advance

The AVE (hight speed) train just makes no sense to visit Tarragona (town), you will pay more for actually arriving later to the town centre and with more hassle.

There are other trains that will take you to Tarrgona itself. They take about 55 minutes (Arco, Euromed) or about 1.20 € for the much less expensive "Catalunya express" trains.

The main train station in Tarragona is near to the seaport and El Serrallo (lovely area and a great place to have a good lunch of seafood or paella), from there you can take buses to the Old Town area, or taxis.... or a long walk uphill.
