Galicia - Rias Baixas travel advice

Hi,

We are planning to travel from Barcelona to Galicia in mid July. We are 2 adults and 2 young children and will be travelling by a rented car for around 10 days (flexible, maybe 2 weeks).

We like national parks, countryside, nature, sightseeing, walking, greenery, hot springs, rivers, wine, food, horses. We would like to stay in a central located place to visit Santiago, Rias Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Ourense.

Any advise on where to stay and what to do?

Thanks!

Staying central is not going to work very well.

As the area would not be of great tourist interest.

To get from the Ribeira Sacra to SdC it is an hour or two (each way) depending on your location in the Ribeira Sacra. Ourense, is just outside so that would be no problem. The Rias Baixas is around 2 to 3 hours away (each way) depending on location.

Have you considered splitting your time between the Rias Baixas and Ribeira Sacra?

The time you give for your vacation is that in total or just the time allotted for Galicia?

The most centrally located places for your purposes are around the Lalín area or O Carballiño so you are within easy access of all the places you want to visit and at least you will driving through beautiful galician countryside. There also some great places to say such as the Aciveiro Monastery, San Clodio Monastery or Pazo Almuzara. You are not far from the wine area of Ribeiro around Ribadavia where you can visit a number of wineries and/or enjoy the walks. Check out things to do https:/…422283397858871 Alternatively you can split your time between Ribeira Sacra where there plenty of casas rurales to stay and things to do e.g. visit wineries, boat trips, places to see http://turismo.ribeirasacra.org/rs/en/ and the Rias Baixas. Baiona is a beautiful resort popular with spaniards in summer. You itinerary is spot on as you are going to love what Galicia has to offer as well as all the great food and drink and friendly people!
