Section 8 with "Follow the Camino"

Looking at doing this last section of the pilgrimage next year with "Follow the Camino". Any comments on best time of year, the travel company, what not to miss,...etc.,...?

thanks, Sandra

"Follow the Camino" is another one of the countless companies providing services along the Camino, in this case it is an Irish company called "One Foot Abroad", which means that it is "6 of one, half a dozen of another".

We will try and give some fuller answers to your questions. But we need some further clarifications first.

When you say the last section, where do you plan to start?

How long do you plan to undertake the Camino? There are a lot of companies that supply services, which allow you to walk the Camino, but most folks do this without any organisation behind them as they find it gives them a feeling of real accomplishment.

What do you hope to achieve from doing this part of the Camino?

What do you mean by BEST? Something that is best for you may not be for another person.

If you walk the Camino there is nothing else to see other than what is on the route and if you follow that you will not miss anything.

Hi, we will be doing the walk from Sarria also next year in September, but we are going without any travel company. Our only problem is our luggage, we might leave most of it at the lockers in the train station in Madrid and just travel with a small backpack. How do we get to Sarria from Leon, is there a train ?

To be honest the best way to get to Sarria is to fly or train to Santiago, then get a bus to Lugo then another bus to Sarria.

If you want to take your luggage too then Turgalicia, the official body for tourism in Galicia (and run by the Government of Galicia) runs a similar service here is the link about it. Everything is organised for you and you stay in Casa Rurals too.

Hi Sandra,

I am travelling from Australia in a few months to walk from Sarria to Santiago. I have been dealing with a person over the internet who can organise luggage transfers, booking in small hotels etc for a very reasonable price. He is an Aussie, but he speaks fluent Spanish having lived in Spain for over 6 years. here are his contact details.

I found the personal touch was very helpful compared to bigger tour companies. Drop him an email and see.

regards Jennie
