Vigo port to Santiago de Compostela-logistics question

I will be arriving Friday, Sept 13 in Vigo from a cruise ship (small rather than large). We are in port 9am-9pm so I thought that would be plenty of time to catch the train to SdC. I thought I'd taxi to the train station, Vigo Guixar and catch the 9:40 train, arriving at 11:21. We would return on an afternoon train.

Any possible glitches that can you can foresee? Is the train station in SdC close to the Cathedral? Should I worry at all about possible strikes? Is this the train that was recently in that horrible accident and if so is it running again? Any other suggestions for our time in SdC?

I sure appreciate TA forums and its wealth of helpful information. Thanks in advance!

Glitches? a train breaks down, but who knows... if so you can always hire a taxi; expensive but it will get you back to the ship.

Train station to Cathedral may not be walkable. Get a taxi.

You can find more here:

The train accident was on a different route to which you are taking. Trains were up and running fully within a few days. Buses and train diversions were used as alternatives.

Other suggestions read the tourism website.
