Taxi or bus from the airport. Depends on amount of luggage if the bus is practical or not. Gibraltar is a place you could spend longer or shorter than 4 days. In that time, 4 days, you should be able to do the relaxing and sightseeing. Gibraltar is quite small.

Area to stay. Each have plusses & minuses imo. Catalan bay [Caleta Hotel is the main name there] is ideal if you want a beach. Couple of pubs doing food. Downside is last bus back from "town" is at 20.30 or taxi. Or walk, only 30 - 40 minutes? Central - good for the majority of restaurants. Bus to Catalan Bay for the beach. Towards Botanical Gardens. Bus / taxi / walk to centre.

Depends on definition of reasonably priced and expectations. Some places looked a bit rundown but options from hostel through to the Caleta, Rock Hotel [Botanical Gardens end] and O'Callaghans Eliott [Central]

Gibraltar is more expensive than Spain, so look at all the places on T.A. here and hopefully you can find one in your price range. Good luck and have fun. Hubie

We were there last weekend and stayed for 3 nights and found that to be adequate to see all we wanted to. We could have stayed for longer though and relaxed either by the pool or on the beach(stayed at the Caleta). We liked the hotel. Good service and nice views but as previous post explained, it's not in the centre of things. Taxis to/from were £6 but it's easily walkable in 30 mins. The queens hotel looks really run down from the outside and if you look at the Reviews on here, that should help you to choose. Gibraltar is a nice place. Some pubs and restaurants are better than others and the prices for drinks vary too(as do the measures). Found everyone to be friendly and the duty free prices for spirits and cigarettes are ridiculously cheap compared to the uk. Its also worth a walk into Spain for lunch as la linea is quite nice once you walk 500 yards or so from the border. We would go back and probably will do so later ths year as we found it to be pretty good value overall

Thankx Salford guys,,, some good advice there, never knew the place was so spread out, just fancy a few days away & somewhere/thing different, been lucky on previous trips like Lisbon last year we booked a cheap hotel slap in middle of everything, people we met there payed a small fortune at a posh hotel & hated it ,, Is it easy to get to the Rock itself ? I see there are 2 airports , which is best to fly into ? Thankx again,, Cabohome,,

Hi Cabohome. If you are seeing 2 airports then the other must be in Spain. Only the one in Gibraltar and that is literally yards from the border. The local bus service is very good. Only £1.50 for a day pass [blue buses], or singles and returns. But if you stay centrally you might not need a bus. Handy though if you want to go round to the beach. Also if you want to walk up the rock you can save yourself the initial slog on town streets. Airlines flying from UK to Gibraltar are Monarch [from Luton], Easyjet and British Airways. Unless there is a worthwhile saving in cost it has to be Gibraltar airport.

I agree. The other airport that tends to be used is Malaga. That's about 70 mins drive away. Gib airport is fine. Small but adequate although I imagine it would be cramped if dealing with more than two flights. A new terminal is being built adjacent to the existing one and it doesn't seem all that far from opening. I'd fly into gib. No question. You'll be at most hotels within 15 mins or so after leaving the airport. Ideal if on short break

Gibraltar is one of the few places, probably in the world, where if you don't have heavy luggage you'd be able to walk to a centrally located hotel in either Gibraltar or La Linea from the Airport. Although, saying that I certainly wouldn't recommend walking to 'The Rock' hotel from the Airport.

I stayed at Hotel AC La Linea as it seemed a middle of the range hotel but I wouldn't recommend it. If I was doing the same trip again I would go for one of the cheaper options in Gibraltar. Don't worry about the lack of a proper service as Gibraltar has loads of bars offering a reasonably priced food service. I'd say that The Clipper in Irish Town is the best place for Breakfast while O'Reillys on the front is the best place for a full meal. The Lord Nelson is also a good place for food but it's a busier pub than O'Reillys and consequently a slower service.
