Calling Madrid TA advisors

We turn to you once again. Last year we stayed in the Salamanca barrio and loved the area. This year we are looking at the Jardin de Recoletos hotel which appears to be more near Retiro park. Your thoughts on the neighborhood would be so helpfu.

Have you looked at Maribel's Guides to Madrid (www.maribelsguides.com). They have information you should find useful.

As far as the Hotel Jardin de Recoletos goes, it's fine, a 4-star, located in Salamanca at C/ Gil de Santivañes, 6, a few minutes walk from the entrance to Retiro Park.

The 5-star AC Retiro is better located, just across from the park and now is associated with the Marriott Hotel Group, which means you can either use or earn points.

There is also the Hospes, another great 5-star, located on Plaza de la Independencia, across from the park.

It is a nice area and quiet as well. Close to museums. I think Maribels guides are great and also recommend them frequently.

Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone for the information. We stayed at the Selenza last year in the heart of the Salamanca barrio and loved. The reason we were looking at the Jardin is due to what the rooms offer. Maribel's guides are terrific and she mentions Jardin and also Fodors like it as well. Still not sure on the location. What thoughts do you have about the area where the Embassies are located....is it called Chambarin???

Also looking at Orfilia and Urbano??? but the latter I believe is in the Gran Via area and we don't want that at all.

Mil gracias a todos

The US Embassy is located at C/ Serrano, 75. It's about a 20 minute walk straight up Serrano from the Jardin de Recoletos.

Are you thinking of the Hotel Urban? That is in the area near Plaza Santa Ana. It's lovely. As is the Palacio Tepa.

Thanks for the clarification and information. It was the Urban. I will check location again. TA is always so terrific in helping with the research and planning.
