Help please

Hi, looking to come to Madrid end of May/Start of June.

How far is Holiday Inn Madrid-Piramides from the airport?

What is the best/cheapest way to get to the hotel from the airport?

How long does it take to get to Madrid City Centre from hotel and what is the cost of travel?

Are there any offers on transport for example, all day travel ticket?

Thanks

Hayley :)

Piramides is not too far from what is considered the tourist Centro of Madrid. It's about a 10-15 minute walk or a metro ride (on the cercanias train it should be fast but on the metro it's a little longer because there is a change of lines). As for how to get to the airport, check the hotel and see if they have a shuttle. They may. Otherwise you can do a couple things. You can take the shuttle from the airport to Atocha and then take a cercanias to Piramides. Or you can take the metro to Nuevos Ministerios and then take cercanias to Piramides. From the airport it should be around 45 minutes or so by taxi, longer on public transport.

For metro use, the best and easiest ticket is to use a 10 pass ticket which comes out to be around 1€ a ride (really affordable). But you'll be on a cercanias line which is a little pricier. You don't have to use it, you can use the metro which is cheaper (and compared to UK prices you won't find the cercanias high).

Unless you are sold on this hotel though, you might want to look closer in towards the center of town which may make transportation nearly moot. Madrid is very very walkable. If you try a hostal (not a hostel) like the Hostal Adriano or Hostal Gonzalo you might find you need almost no transportation except a little on the metro or the Airport Shuttle bus (2€).
