Madrid

I will be In Madrid May 13 - May 25. We will be staying at Gran Melia Fenix. The only activity we have booked is a tour of the Royal Palace, Queen Sofia Museum. and a dinner at Cafe de Oriente. I am open to any suggestions for day trips or possibly traveling to Barcelona for several days. I will be traveling with my adult son.

cello:

I would not dine al fresco yet since it is still winter. There is a historic small restaurant decorated in art nouveau style beside the Paseo de Recoletos, 31. It is called Café El Espejo.

You can have lunch --if a sunny day-- at a rooftop bar (7th floor) located in the Círculo de Bellas Artes. Luncheon time: from 2 PM to 4 PM.

It costs 3€ to take the elevator up and tickets must first be bought at the counter entering from Calle del Marqués de Casa Riera. The access includes the inner stair exhibition.
