If you're more serious historically and artistically, choose Toledo. If you like to absorb history in a more "hands-on" kind of way, choose Segovia. What does Segovia has to offer 1. 2,000 year old Roman aqueduct 2. authentic castle 3. late Gothic cathedral and 4. and delicious roast pork or lamb. You can do this easily in a day. On the other hand, "doing" Toledo in a day is a heady class assignment.

I think I just responded to your prior post. Both are amazing, and it is almost impossible to not say Toledo as the "obligatory" day trip, but to be honest we loved Segovia much more. As mentioned above, the Aqueduct was amazing (especially if you have never seen them before like myself). Toledo is extremely touristy, almost Disney-like touristy, with tourist sword shops occupying what seems like 50% of the shops in town. Segovia has its fair share of tourism, but felt more real, and the cathedral is magnificent. If I could only do one I'd choose Segovia (my wife actually agreed with me on this one, when I asked her opinion--which never happens, for what its worth) :-) If at all possible, cram two of your Madrid days into one, and do both day trips, and then you don't have to choose!

Both are very much a win-win, but also my pick would be Segovia. The sights you see in Segovia you will never forget. Make sure you save room for lunch, Segovia is one of the best places for food in Spain. Good luck and have fun. Hubie

I love both, but if I had to pick one it would be Segovia for the same reasons as Hubie!

I am a Toledo person, but you really can't lose with either. Try a search of the forum as this is one of our most common questions and there are lots and lots of threads that cover this topic in depth. You can get tons of details about both places.
