Train travel in spain

For those traveling by train in Spain. We recently booked a trip from Barcelona to San Sebastianwith Petrabax.

it was around $100 cheaper using the Petrabax website than Rail Europe. On exactly the same train.

We booked online which was easy

If would probably have cost even less if you had booked direct with the train operator: www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html

Their website is impossible to navigate. It drops out constantly. It was only in Spanish without translations and was no cheaper

The only time RENFE would not be cheaper is when all the promo and low-priced but equal value seats are sold. If you are booking later in a higher season situation, the alternative sites may be just as good with less hassle. If you have a chance for the lower prices, the RENFE prices are worth the hassle IMO.

I think Rail Europe is one of the biggest rip-offs around. Their pricing is ridiculous.
