Overnight Layover in Madrid

I will be arriving in MADRID at 2300 at night, will be most likely staying in a hotel the night, any good place to stay but not too expensive. Also, is it possible to roam around Madrid in the morning before my connecting flight at 1300?

Appreciate any advice. Many thanks!

Benz

hi,

As u arrive at night i guess you will reach your hotel past midnight. You can also choose a hotel near the airport which are usually cheaper than the center ones but then you will not be able to see any of Madrid.

The sun is rising nowadays around 7 00 AM. You can choose to walk around the old city centre covering Plaza de España, Debod Temple, Royal Palace, Plaza de La villa, Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza Mayor and Puerta de Sol, This early you enjoy the sights buy it will most be deserted and only office goers traffic around 0830 to 1000.

After the tour you can take a taxi to reach the airport.

Have a nice trip

Thanks for the advise. How long is it approximately from Airport to city centre? Roughly how much Euros also for a cab? if we decided to book a hotel around central Madrid.

Hi,

Madrid Airport of the center is not more than half an hour. A taxi ride can cost you around 30 Euros to the center. Also there are shuttle bus service called the AIrport Express. Costs 5 euros a ride. You can one during the arrival.

Benz:

For your flight home, you have to be at the airport 2 hours before an international flight. So you have to be there by 11:00h. Most sights do not open until 10 am.

You can go to the Plaza Mayor and take some refreshment there. Another place that will be open is the Plaza de España. You can also walk the Gran Via.

Hi Benz,

Check the Holiday Inn - Piramides on this map. In a few words, it is southwest of the historic center while the airport Barajas is northeast. This is not near either the airport of the city center.
