Madrid or Barcelona for my 21st

Hi, for my 21st in Feburary, I'm not quite sure where in Spain to go; It is out of Madrid and Barcelona.

I will be spending 3 nights there with 8 people; all in their early 20's. So I'm looking for somewhere lively; has a very energetic night-life and also quite fun during the day, filled with a young crowd.

As well as getting advice on what city to stay in, I need advice on what areas of the city I should stay in. I want it to be a memorable 21st.

Thank you for your help.

Diima:

You could go to Madrid first and go to Barcelona on your next trip. Spain is addictive and most people who visit it always try to return.

In Madrid look for hotels near the Plaza Santa Ana or Gran Via. For more upscale accommodation go to the Barrio Salamanca.

For tapas, here is a good article:

I'd recommend the Malasaña district for a young crowd.

Both places are brilliant. February is not exactly beach weather so Madrid is my pick! Either way you won't be disappointed.
