Madrid stay

Finishing up from our trip in Madrid and have 6 days to spend until we get to England to take the Queen Mary back to the states. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do for those days? Maybe an escorted tour? What hotel? and will getting the airport be a problem??

Check out some of the top questions on the right, which are bursting with information about city attractions, hotels, etc. Try to stay in the historic center since most attractions will be within 20 minutes walking distance Also, check out tripadvisor's "things to do list:

Be sure to include a day trip to Toledo and another day to Segovia.

You can do it as a guided tour or book a Renfe ticket and do it on your own. See "Top Questions about Madrid".

A trip to El Escorial is also highly recommended.

I recommend a day trip to Toledo and another to Segovia. Read about these day trips in the top questions on the right panel.

1. Palacio Real

2. Plaza Mayor - Have lunch at nearby Botin.

3. Retiro Park

1. Prado

2. Sorolla

3. Cerralbo

There are many hotels on the Gran Via, which is downtown.

A good hotel where I stay in the Barrio Salamanca is the Melia Galgos. The Barrio Salamanca is the upscale barrio where there is plenty of security. Calle Serrano is the Fifth Avenue of Madrid, with many upscale stores.
