Schedule for Felipe VI’s Proclamation as King

On June 19 (Thursday) Felipe VI will be proclaimed as the new King of Spain. This will be a historic moment in Spanish history. Visitors in Madrid may want to see the motorcade or go to the Palacio Real to see the Royal Family at the balcony there.

This is the schedule:

10:30 Arrival in Congress for the ceremony.

11:30 Start of motorcade from Congress to the Paseo del Prado, Calle de Alcala, Gran Via, Plaza de España , Plaza de Oriente, Palacio Real.

The New King and all of his family (including Don Juan Carlos y Doña Sofía) will appear at the balcony to greet the public.

All of downtown Madrid is being decorated with the Spanish flag. This will be a very colorful event.

Friends:

TV news has just said that they will be distributing 120,000 small plastic flags (which can be waved) along the route to the palace, and these will be free. This will be a very good FREE souvenir, if you are there!
