you would be better off staying in the old town.

Depending what sort of hotel you want (pool etc)

the Mar Blau is a nice hotel only 2* but clean and nice staff (no pool but sea 50yds from hotel door)

Avenidia Hotel or apartments 100yds from beach the hotel has a small roof top pool and guest at the apartments can use the pool in the hotel opposite.

for very cheap Estudio Apartments right in the middle of the old town around €10 per person per night very basic but clean and right in the heart of things 2 minute walk to tapas alley

theres so many to choose from in and around the old town.

Hotel Fetiche is no.1 B&B hotel in old town and has great reviews.

For 4 Star hotels just on edge of the old town, the RH Royal and sister hotel Victoria are hard to beat.

If the budget allows, the 5 star Villa Venecia is next to tapas alley and fabulous!

Corona Del Mar and Magic Villa Del Mar, are both lovely hotels next to the Poniente beach and the lovely new promenade. Hotels Voramar and Magic Fenicia are both next to the harbour in the Old town. Mainly Spanish guests but both very good value for money.

Esmeralda and the Tanit fit the bill, as do Milords apartments. However my personal recommendation is Hostal Irati which is a lovely little hotel with a marvellous, friendly bar area (quite international clientele), a good owner/manager (Gabriel) and food (inc. tapas) that will not disappoint you (given your description of your food preferences) - Sara is very talented.

sorry to last poster but do not recommend esmerelda under any circumstances - terrible reviews and had friends stay there the same time as we stayed next door and they had a very miserable experience -i would say avoid

No need to apologise. I only mention it because it is in the right area and a friend stays their regularly and rates it highly. However, I've never stayed there so have no first hand knowledge. What was the thrust of your friends' gripe?

hi they paid the suppliment for sea view room and were given a basement room at the back that stank of sewage, the view from the window was at pavement level!! - they complained and complained and demanded to see manager who never turned up - TA reviews show this happens alot to British visitors - they would have changed hotels but the hotel refused to refund their money to travel republic so they would have had to pay again which was not an option for them ( despite being very hard workers they could not afford the £400 + TR wanted) - we saw the room they stayed in and to be honest it was disgusting - since returning home they have got some money back but not all and its all left a very bad taste in their mouths and probably wont return to benidorm ;(

If your looking for a B & B, then defo the Hotel Fetiche! Located right in the heart of the old town, with everything on your doorstep. I stay there several times a year. Fab little Hotel. Cheers!
