We just got back and had rain one day and heavy grey cloud another day. Apart from that it was fine.

Hi focus. The food at the Riviera was brilliant, with the only exception being the meat they used for main courses.

That was poor quality and chewy and tough. Can't imagine why they let the standards slip in this one respect - for example, on our last evening, the main course meat which was listed as roast lamb was actually NECK of lamb! Only used normally for stewing type of dishes.Completely inedible after a quick roast.

Most other hotels have a carvery meat each night, but the Riviera only had it one night, and though the food was buffet style, he cut one or two small slices per person.

Apart from that, though, no complaints at all. The soups were good, choice of 2 each night. The salads the best choice I've ever seen. The desserts were completely irresistible. The kind of thing you would expect in a top restaurant, and a huge choice every night too.

Breakfasts were excellent too. Kelloggs cereal, not the usual own brand stuff. Good quality bacon, eggs, English sausages, black pudding, just about everything you could possibly want for breakfast and the usual pastries they tend to have, too. All in all, the best food I have ever had in any hotel in the world.

Which makes it harder to understand why they used such rubbish meat...!
