No Question is silly, but think about it,it's Spain, why would they celebrate Guy Fawkes night.

Yep, plenty fireworks on the Wednesday evening (12th) after the parade in the Old Town. And, some banger (squibs) going off in the afternoon.

So right Mallcum, you can here the fireworks, especially the bangers from miles away. I can remember hearing those 8 am 'bangs' when staying in the Altea Hills.

If you want to experience really loud fireworks, take the short journey to Elche on 13 August for the Nit de L'Alba. The display starts just after 11pm and finishes just before midnight. You will never experience anything like it:

Why would Spain celebrate somebody wanting to blow up the British parliament in the 17th century? As already said, they have lots of their own fiestas with fireworks and not forgetting the most famous, Las Fallas in Valencia.

Not a silly question.

St patricks day is celebrated in benidorm and that has nothing to do with Spain.

St Patricks day is celebrated by ex pats, tourists & bar owners,as they welcome the business.

It's the same as the fancy dress day the British hold in the November fiestas,it is something that has developed over the years,it has nothing to do with the week long celebration of the patron saints of Benidorm which is what the fiestas are all about.

For bonfire & fireworks to celebrate November 5th this would have to be authorised by the Benidorm council.(Ayuntamiento de Benidorm) & I doubt this would ever happen,it is not a Spanish celebration.

With such a large resident British population it's maybe a matter of time before Guy Fawkes night is celebrated in Benidorm.

There are already St .Patrick's day celebrations, an Orange Walk, St .Andrew's days celebrations and no doubt other celebrations which ex-pats like to maintain in their adopted country.
