Planning on goint to italy next year.Thinking of Rome, Florence, Venise and the Dolimates.

Looking for suggestions on where to stay and info on the train schedule.

Suggestions on length of stay- and going not on a tour.

ANY helpful hints will be welcomed.

Italy can be travelled and visited without organized tours, just plan ahead a bit and you'll be fine.

A good thing might be land in one city and take off in another.

Let's say arrive in Rome, visit the city then up North to the Dolomites, the best airports to get back home would be Marco polo in Venice or Malpensa in Milan.

The lenght of your staying in each place is really up to you, but I would give Rome the highest priority, then Venice, and florence and Dolomites. The latter one is a excellent area for hiking so you might need few days.

As it has been said the schedule can be found on trenitalia website, just note that it is not the most userfriendly site around as other threads can proove.
