Italy trip for next year - itinerary doable?

Hi. I am planning a trip to Italy next year and visit the following places:

1. Milan (2 nights/3 days)

2. Venice (2 nights /3 days)

3. Florence (2 nights / 3 days)

4. Rome (3 nights / 4 days)

5. Pisa (overnight)

6. Nice/Cannes (2 nights /3 days)

7. Back to Milan.

Trip will be 15 - 19 days. Is the itinerary doable or too ambitious? I also want to visit Marseilles if time permits.

I have not check the train system of Italy (and southern France) yet. That's my next task, to make sure all the cities we want to vist are connected by train.

Any help (suggestions and tips) is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Your trip does not compute: 12 nights and 17 days???

All the cities you mention are connected by train.

Italy train information: www.trenitalia.com but it currently does not have information beyond 12 June. Use travel dates next week for your planning.

France train information: www.voyages-sncf.com but stay with French. If you switch to English you get another site that does not list all the trains.

It is certainly a possible trip.

If you spend two nights in a city, you will have a max of about 1.5 days to see that city if your transit times are short, which some of yours aren't. Some days must be counted simply as travel days and if you're lucky you'll have time for a leisurely dinner in your new city. Then to have any time in the next city on that first day, you'll have to leave the morning after the second night.

We generally consider two night in a place to give us one day in that place. Anything more is gravy not to be expected--especially in Italy where "Plan B" appears to be the order of the day.
