We just got back from a trip that we booked through Cultural Italy and it was wonderful. Our travel agent, Antoinette Filippone, booked our hotels, reserved our train tickets and set up all our tours. I told her where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see and she put together a custom tour for us at a price that was not much more than what we would have spent on a guided tour which I wanted to stay away from because I had heard that the hotels were usually in inconvenient locations and it's hard to find a guided tour that includes exactly what you want to do. All of our hotels were very nice and in excellent locations in the center of things, convenient to restaurants and tourist attractions. The tours we were booked on were top-notch and we were able to do all the things that I had dreamed of doing in Italy. I could not recommend them more highly.Edited: 26 March 2012, 02:03
This is a wonderful tour company. I would rate it A++++++. We worked with Alessia Moro. We told her where we wanted to go and she took care of everytihing, from car rental, train tickets from Rome to Naples and back to Rome, hotels in Rome and Sorrento, a villa in Tuscany and guided tours in Pompei, Rome and Amalfi Coast., musuem tickets in Florence, transportation from airports to hotels Everything was top notch. She is a jewel to work with. I have traveled often but this was certainly the best vacation I have ever experienced. The price was reasonable and the trip was so personable. No waiting in long lines. Alessia took care of every detail
I just returned from a trip to Sicily which was arranged by Alessia Moro of Cultural Italy. All of the arrangements - including tours in Sicily to Agrigento, Mt. Etna, and Taormina - went off without problems and the guides were excellent. We have Sicilian family, so our visit was focused on the southern part of the island ... flying into Catania. Alessia arranged an excellent villa for the length of our stay. She also contacted us several times throughout our trip to check up on us. (We originated our trip by staying in Rome for several days, then spent several days on the Amalfi Coast, which Alessia also managed for us.) Although Cultural Italy is headquartered in San Diego, Alessia lives and works in Italy and so is personally familiar with the realities of travel there - and has an apparently extensive network of contacts throughout the mainland and Sicily. This was our first trip, so we had only a few ideas of where to go and what to see and do; Alessia very patiently worked through our personal likes and dislikes to develop a very active/educational/fun trip.Highly recommended!
Consider a tour with a Sicilian based company, not a company who would then subcontract with a company in Sicily. Not only do these companies lose control over what happens in Sicily, but they aren’t a good value – You would pay more for less. Any time a middleman is involved, costs go up, and value and quality go down.
In Italy, guides at historic sites are required to be fully licenced - Many companies run tours with drivers or guides who aren't fully licenced. Be sure you have a licenced guide for the historical sites.
2 week tours in sicily:
I worked with Alessia from italy. Words cannot express how wonderful she was. We spend time in Tuscany, Rome and Sorrento. She took care of everything for us. We also had dealings with the San Diego office.and they were very easy to work with also. i will never go to Italy again without using this team of professionals JF
Then consider submitting a review foxjoy....
What if I want to review something that's not listed on TripAdvisor?
But still consider a Sicilian based company for Sicily LittleObo - You might be very happy with this company, but you owe it to yourself to shop around.
I just dont know how anyone could be better than Cultural Italy, regardless of where you go in Italy
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there are many competent and wonderful companies in Italy running tours and excursions - Certainly there are more options than just one company, and these forums are about offering information to make educated choices.

I used them and was disappointed. They botched the trip and did little follow-up. They market themselves as a luxury tour company; however I do not find them on par with that level of expertise.
They were not up front about all the costs and some of the tours they booked contained additional fees. They were also remiss in meeting requirements on various aspects of the trip. I do not recommend them.
