Rome - Florence - Venice in November

Hello,

Just wanted an overall opinion on travel to Rome, Florence, and Venice in early November? I am planning a trip with my mom and we are seriously considering November as it is cheaper, cooler, and less crowded.....from what I hear and have read. Does it really rain that much at that time? If anyone has traveled to these cities at this time period your comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks a ton in advance!!

I have been to Rome in Early december in 2006. In the 10 days we were there it only rained on 2 of them. it was blissfully uncrowded and that year anyway, the weather was great.

I've been to Venice twice in November - the first time for 6 days and it drizzled lightly for 1/2 day and the second time I visited was for 10 days and it rained heavy 1 whole day and lightly 1/2 day. Of course, you can never predict the weather year to year and although I think the stats say November is a rainy month, I've been lucky with the weather there in my 2 visits in November. Sometimes I experienced heavy fog in the early morning but it dissipated late morning - the fog just makes Venice more intriguing (if that's possible!)

The weather was great otherwise, a light jacket during the day and a sweater and jacket at night.

I was in Rome in 2009 for three days in November. We saw no rain and could even eat outside some days. I take a microfiber (waterproof) jacket and a sweater and am fine for all occasions.
