Venice to Rome - where on the way

Planning our honeymoon in June. We are flying into Venice are driving down to and flying out of Rome. We have 8 nights.

Were should we make a stop and where should we give a miss?

Am thinking two nights in Venice (or is one enough?) and two in Rome.

Ideas on the agenda are Lake Garda, Pisa and Florence. Anywhere else too good to miss. Or anywhere not worth it? Have heard that florence and pisa are a tourist hell!

Not sure if I want to do everything in one hol as as would like a bit of chill time too.

Dear me. You are off to a good start..."Have heard that florence and pisa are a tourist hell!" How about Venice, Rome, and Lake Garda...and yes, you'll also be a tourist. Get yourself a couple of guide books, sit down with you partner, and figure out what the two of you would like to see and do. You are off to a good start by flying into Venice and out of Rome. Renting a car is probably not the best choice...trains are faster, easier, and more efficient. Venice is terribly romantic...albeit expensive to some, but most will say 3 nights is a minimum. Rome is so full of things to see and do, most would say 3 nights minimum. In between is Florence which has much to offer...2 nights minimum. That leaves no more time! If you really want to chill out, pick small resort town and base yourself there for 4 nights and then do one of the cities for 4 nights...but if you select any popular locations, look out for those tourists!
