Essentially, all of central Rome is safe provided you use basic street smarts. There is no part of central Rome that should be avoided for safety. The area around Termini is not the most beautiful in Rome, but it is not dangerous.

It would help if you could give an idea of how much you are hoping to spend per night, in euros.

Check www.venere.com - you can sort there by budget, location, needs, etc to find lodging.

Try Pensione Panda-close to Spanish steps- a bus ride from Termini. Small rooms but good location.
