Getting around Tuscany and Umbria

Traveling with 4 couples plus adult child, early May, renting farmhouse for 2 weeks in Sinalunga (Tuscany) as a base, renting 2-3 cars. Where best to fly into, rent cars, or, take train, rent cars?

Fly into Rome and rent a car at the airport. You will need a car when you are staying near Sinalunga.

It's not wise to drive in a foreign country right off the long flight. You may be jet-lagged and/or sleep-deprived. If you're going to spend any time in Rome, you might want to do so first, and then pick up the car at the airport and continue on to Tuscany.

Just a thought.
