From our own experience I would suggest you visit as early in the month as possible. For a number of years we took our holiday in Italy during the second half of the month so to coincide with my birthday but we repeatedly experienced wet weather. During our ten days in Puglia we had only one day without rain. A few years earlier whilst in Praiano, after a continuous downpour, there were landslips and the road to Amalfi was blocked. More recently after some excellent weather in Parma we moved on to Lucca where the heavens opened for two solid days and flights in and out of Pisa were halted for a while due to fear of acquaplaning. Others may have been luckier than we were.
Last year we were in Tuscany during the first half of September and the weather was perfect throughout.
Thank you! We are looking at the first couple weeks of October. I'm hoping it doesn't rain....?
