Inspiration for my travels in Italy

Hi guys, wondering if you can help..??

Travelling to Italy for 2 weeks next July, flying into Rome for 3 nights (visited twice before) then onto Florence for 4 nights and as I've been there before aswell looking to take in Siena and Lucca, aswell as a day trip to the Cinque Terre ( I know that's quite a trip to do in one day) then moving on to Milan for 2 nights... Where would people recommend after that?? I'm stuck for ideas really?? Genoa?? Turin?? I've already visited Venice so would like to see somewhere else.. Thanks :)

Okay..... people say Siena is better than Florence and I personally didn't like it. You could do Rome-Florence a day then take the train, or rental car out of town. and move on to Milan, but I would suggest Turin for a few days. So you have your 3 Nights in Rome, Florence for 4 nights, MIlan for 2 nights, then go in Turin for 2 nights,Genoa for 2, and Rome for 1 and fly back to the UK

Cities are very hot in July, why don't you plan to go to the lakes or to the Dolomites?

"Cities are very hot in July" that's why we spend our annual summer holidays in the lovely city of Lucca, so different from the usual washout summers in the UK!!

I meant that he can go to the Alps after Milan, not skipping the cities he already planned to go.

We always stay in Courmayeur with it's fabulous views of Monte Bianco and the Alps on our journey to/from Lucca, the temperature is certainly cooler there than in Lucca.

Given that it is July, I'd probably add some days to a seaside or lake destination.

If you want cities - Bologna and some wonderful surrounding towns - Parma, Ferrara, Modena are very much enjoyable.

There's so much from which to choose - Your guidebook offers up nothing of interest? My problem is that when I read my guidebooks, I want to go everywhere I read about - so I then have to choose a few and begin to do the more fine tuned research on some places that sound appealing.

As it will be July and probably very warm, I think Lake Como is a great idea.
