Florence, Pisa or Milan

Hi,

We are travelling to Europe next June and would like to seek feedback / recommendation which of the 3 cities above, should be visited if I only have time to visit one or two only.

My interest is photography and sightseeing. My nephew told me to skip Milan and go to Pisa but in Trip Advisors top 10 cities in Italy - Pisa is not listed but Milan is.

thanks.

You should plan on visiting Florence. The city is the birthplace of the Renaissance and is filled with treasures.

Also, Pisa is quite close so you would be able to visit there since it is good for a day trip experience.

Milan is a large commercial city and lacks much of the cultural edge which you find in most Italian cities.

Must admit I've not got to Milan yet but Florence is simply wonderful. Do your homework though and if you're planning on visiting the main museums or galleries be sure to book ahead. Pisa is pleasant and not far away so doable as an excursion. Both places are unbelievably photogenic.

Of the three you mentioned, Florence is far and away the best "experience". Fortunately it's also very close to Pisa with frequent regionale train services daily. So you can do that day trip and grab the stock photos of the leaning tower and duomo.

Milan is very nice around the duomo and Vittorio Immanuel shopping area, but we found little else of interest there (we couldn't get tickets to the Last Supper). I'd stick with Florence with a possible day trip to Pisa.
