Driving holiday from France to Italy

Hi, we are heading on an exciting (hopefully) trip from L'absie France, to Italy at the end of July. Time is not really an issue although we thought we would spend roughly two weeks. Does anyone have any tips, best routes, places to stay on route and also best places to see/stay in Italy? We are mainly thinking of camping most places that we go. Would love any ideas and help. Thanks

If you pick up a rental car in France and drop off in Italy, there will be a very substantial one-way fee. Someone has to go to Italy and drive the car back to France, at your expense.

Hi Sydneynick, we would actually be driving back to France afterwards as my parents live there. We are using their place as a bit of a base to travel around Europe.

Keep in mind that you'll travel on high season and it will be very hot and humid.

I think you need to do a bit more research to get an idea of where you'd like to stay as Italy is a big country, if you haven't been before then the usual highlights would be Rome, Florence and Venice and you could spend some time visiting Toscana after visiting florence, there are camp sites near all the popular sightseeing towns.
