The cheapest base fare on a slow train is €20,45 and takes 3.5 hrs. You might be able to get a special fare on a faster train depending on your date. Without knowing your specific date, a test booking brought up a €29 fare in a business silenzio carriage leaving at 06:20. You have probably left it too late to get one of the Super Economy fares which go on sale 120 days prior to travel.

You can check out fares for yourself at www.trenitalia.com . Click on the British flag for English.

See if you can find a SUPER ECONOMY fare of 19 Euros on the Frecciarossa or Frecciargento train between Rome and Florence. This fare is non-refundable and non-changeable.

Also check fares on competitor ITALO Treno (which operates out of Roma Tiburtina station)
