Genoa Italy

Hello, we will be in Genoa in September for 4 days, I haven't been able to find any day tour operators leaving from Genoa. Does anyone know of a site for this. We would like to visit Milan or Turin and see a bit of the countryside and any interesting places in between. We are considering hiring a car, is the driving easy or would trains be a better way to go? Any feedback would be very welcome. Thank you.

Genoa is not a big (for Italy!) tourist destination so apart from tours in the city itself, there are only private tours aimed at cruise passengers (viator.com/Genoa-tours/…d805-g5).

To visit Milan and Turin from Genoa, the train is most definitely the way to go, and see also travelplan.it/genoa_guide_itineraries_weeken…

You could also look at tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g187823-Activiti… (your question should really be in the Genoa forum).

Trust me, you do not want to drive in Genoa, Milan or Turin. And driving would take much longer than going by train. Train from Genoa to Milan is about 90 minutes each way, Genoa to Turin is 2 hours.

For the best prices, book *now*. Tickets for September went on sale in May, and the cheapest tickets will have sold out on most trains by now. See www.trenitalia.com clicking the UK flag to change to English, and looking for trains between Genova Piazze Principe, Milano Centrale and Torino Porta Nuova.

But if you have 4 nights in Genoa, that really means only 3 days, and I think it would be inadvisable to use 2 of them on quite long day trips.

Don't forget to visit Genoa itself http://www.visitgenoa.it/en/homepage and you may also wish to visit nearby places on the Riviera such as Camogli, Santa Margerita Ligure and Portofino.

To see the prices of Regional trains on the Trenitalia website, use a date this week. The Regional trains take little longer than the Intercity trains from Genoa to Turin and Milan.
