Honeymoon in Italy during October-November

We want to honeymoon in Italy during late October and early November. We plan to travel between October 28th (arriving on the 29th) and departing sometime during the week of November 10th. So we are thinking probably about 14-15 full days. Our departure date is fixed, but our return date is flexible.

We have visited Italy before: Rome, Florence, Pisa, Naples, Venice. We really want to spend some more time in Rome and Naples and especially along the Amalfi coast or in Tuscany. One caveat to our trip is that I am attending a conference on Lake Garda in Riva on the nights November 3-7, so I am trying to figure out what the best route to take along our tour as we would like to stay in the south for warmer weather.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

The nearest train station to Riva is Rovereto, about 20km away, from where there are buses operated by Trentino Trasporti; otherwise from Desenzano del Garda/Peschiera del Garda there are buses operated by ATV.

If flying from Naples (the closest airport to Sorrento/Amalfi) or Rome, the most convenient airport to fly into would be Verona (e.g. Meridiana from Naples, Alitalia from Rome); otherwise, it takes about 1 hr by train from Milano Centrale to Desenzano/Peschiera so you can fly into Malpensa or Linate.

From Verona, there are buses to Riva del Garda (http://cwp.embo.org/cfs07-02/Verona_riva.pdf); or, after reaching Verona Porta Nuova on the bus from the airport, it takes only about 14/20 mins by train to Peschiera/ Desenzano respectively, from where you can continue by bus. For a list of buses see www.lagodigarda.it/Linee-autobus/1158-1.html

You CAN get all the way from Salerno (which you can reach by bus from Amalfi) to Rovereto by train with only 1 change, in Bologna, but this takes 6h41-7h26 depending on departure. From Rome it takes 4h41-5h09, again with a change in Bologna.

Basically it's up to you to decide whether to spend your 5 days before Riva in Naples or somewhere between Sorrento and Salerno, and perhaps a couple of days afterwards in Rome, if this is where you would be flying out of. You can't figure out the best route until you have decided where you want to go.
