Bus or train to Rome from Pescara

Dear all,

I'm planning to arrive in Pescara from Spilt by ferry/jet boat. My next destination is Rome. I need some advice:

1.Which one is the better option? Bus or train?

2.Where can I purchase the tickets? How far is the train/bus station from the ferry embarkation point?

3.How much does it cost for the train/bus?

4.How long does it take to reach Rome from Pescara?

Your help is much appreciated!

1. Re: Bus or train to Rome from Pescara

1. My preference is to go by bus

2. In many cases you can buy them online or on board

3. For a bus from Pescara to Roma Tiburtina - depending on operator €15 to €25

4. Depends on the bus operator and the stops they have on route but it is approximately 3 hours

Here is extra info

Getting to/from Rome (Tiburtina, Fiumicino, Ciampino):

ARPA (several options covering L’Aquila, Pescara, Teramo, Chieti Scalo, Avezzano, Scanno, Sulmona, Giulianova)

Prontobus (Avezzano, Torre de Passeri, Chirti Scalo, Pescara, Loreto Aprutino, Penne)

Rosato (Chieti Scalo, Pescara, Ortona, Lanciano, Castel Frentano)

DiCarlo (Pescara, Vasto, San Salvo)

Gaspari (L’Aquila, Teramo, Giulianova, Alba Adriatca, Martinsicuro)

Start (Giulianova, Tortoretto, Alba Adriatica, Martinsicuro)

Note: The destinations listed are a guide, you should check the official sites for current information.

Train costs €11.70 - reservations neither required nor possible. These are slow trains which stop at many stations and take four hours - see http://www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html using a date before June 10 and a date this week to see the fare, which is NA online more than seven days ahead.

ChulaNoruega,

There was a Pescara - Hvar/Split service in previous years and there is an Ancona - Split service this year.

You may be out of luck trying to get to Split by ferry from Pescara as I noticed this

visit-croatia.co.uk/travellingaround/pescara…

which appears to indicate the service is not running in 2012.

Maybe there is another option, but I do not know of one.

Best of luck,
