My partner and I will be travelling to the Amalfi Coast from Naples in May next year. We were planning to leave Naples on a Sunday, catch the ferry to Sorrento and then pick up a rental car to drive to Ravello where we are staying that night. After a bit of driving around Campania we will then be returning for 4 nights in Sorrento and a couple more on Capri. Unfortunately I have just discovered that rental car companies are unlikely to be open on Sundays. I am trying to work out an alternate plan. We will need a rental car at some point, but I don't really want to pick it up early and have to drive the thing around Naples. And travelling to Ravello and then having to backtrack on public transport to pick up a car in Sorrento seems logistically problematic. I am trying to work out what to do instead. At the moment I am thinking of leaving Naples a day early, picking up the car on Saturday and staying in Positano or somewhere else along the coast. Even that seems a bit of a pain given that Positano isn't exactly car-friendly. Any other thoughts and suggestions would be very warmly appreciated.
