First visit to Salerno

Mr, Mrs,

Could you please let me know if visiting Salerno and the Amalfi coast is possible using the public transportation ?

Is English spoken in Salerno and other cities in the Amalfi C. ?

Thank you,

Masaryk

do you need to visit Salerno for a purpose as you are so close to much nicer destinations on the Amalfi Coast.

You will be able to make yourself understood in most areas but it is better to learn some rudimentry italian to help your understanding of local conditions.....remember there are thousands of tourists everywhere so ask them if you need help

It's very difficult to get reception jobs at least one foreign languages, and you can certainly expect there to be English speakers working in almost every hotel in the area - though not necessarily at some B&Bs, smaller restaurants, in shops etc.

Nearly all kids learn the language at school these days (over 96%) but many of the older people grew up at a time when French and/or German were more common....

Salerno has long been a stopping place for coach tours, and I can't see why you would have any particular difficulties there - it's very civilised!

For transport information and a lot more, you'll perhaps find this site helpful - and the Travel Directory that's available for download:
