where does bus from Amalfi stop in Salerno?

We are making a connection to the Salerno train station. The SITA website says the bus goes to via Vinciprova, which looks to be about a 10 minute walk from the station. But I have seen comments here and elsewhere that the bus stops at the station. Has anyone actually taken the Amalfi-Salerno bus and can tell me where it stops? Many thanks for any help.

Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, the bus from Amalfi stops right outside the train station.

The traffic system means the SITA buses can stop at the railway station only on their way FROM Salerno to Amalfi.

On the return journey they have to use an adjacent, parallel road to pass through to the SITA depot, which is slightly out of town, on Via Vinciprova (Via Leonino Vinciprova as Google name it!).

Try taking a look in GoogleMaps and you'll be able to see the arrows for the one-way streets.

And use its StreetView facility to see the stop they use near the station, on Lungomare Trieste - the last position of a long bus pull-in, where there are two ladies waiting under a palm tree, both wearing pale blue tops...

Get off there, rather than continuing to the end of the line, and it will be only a short walk down Via Clemente Mauro to the station.

OK?

Having taken this bus in both directions, I can corroborate from experience what Peter has stated above. From Amalfi TO Salerno, the SITA bus drops you very close to the train station, on a parallel street approx. 3 minutes away on foot. On the return trip (Salerno TO Amalfi), you board the bus DIRECTLY in front of the train station (less than 20 yards from the front doors). You can also purchase the bus ticket at the newsstand inside the station.

Travellers needing to take the ferry boat to or from Amalfi/Positano should take the boat which docks at the Concordia Dock and NOT NOT the Manfredi Dock, which is clear across town near the old Jolly Hotel, two kilometers from the station. By contrast, the Concordia Dock is approx. 400 yards from the train station (5-6 minutes on foot). The Cooperativa Sant'Andrea boats dock at Concordia, whereas the Alicost and the Metro del Mare hydrofoils dock at Manfredi. This is usually overlooked by many foreign travellers (who end up facing a 30-minute walk or an expensive cab ride).

Travellers wanting to proceed to Paestum by CSTP bus should look for the bus stop along Lungomare Trieste (Piazza della Concordia), in a southeasternly direction. While the bus takes twice as long as the train (70 versus 35 minutes), it runs hourly (Monday throu Saturday, only sporadically on Sunday), whereas there is a big gap in train service from Salerno to Paestum after 9:27 a.m. until the early afternoon. The bus also drops you much closer to the Archeological Area in Paestum. The one-way fare to Paestum is 3.00 Euros (either bus or train), and the UNICO CAMPANIA 3T Tourist Ticket (as well as the 3-day Tutta la Regione Artecard) are honored on this bus line as well as on the regionale train to Paestum. The UNICO COSTIERA bus tickets (for the Amalfi Coast), by contrast, are NOT valid east/southeast of Salerno.
