English speaking Childminder, babysitting/animation service

I’m getting married in Sorrento next year and I require details of English speaking Child minders/animation team.

If you have any contact details for qualified child minders including rough idea of prices this would be really helpful.

I would especially like to hear from anyone who has used a child minding or babysitting service in Sorrento.

Italian culture is very child / family orientated.

Children are made very welcome all over town in Restaurants etc. until late at night.

Animation teams in Sorrento - wouldn't have thought so although I could be wrong - it's not really that kind of place unlike the Canaries for example.

Maybe contact your accommodation for suggestions?

I agree with newboldbobs. This is Italy where "baby rules okay". Children are taken everywhere with their parents and are always welcome at parties etc. I've never heard of childminders there.

I love children too and I know Italians adore them, however I have many family members with young children - the type of wedding I am having will not be entertaining for children so I would like to give guests the option of a babysitting service. I know that a few hotels do offer this service including the villa I have chosen, I would like to hear from anyone who has used a service out there if there is anyone!

You don't seem to be having much luck.... a possible suggestion... contact the hotel school at Vico Equense, just down the road from Sorrento - and ask the teaching staff if any of their English speaking students would like to offer the baby-sitting service.at your wedding.

It would seem odd to Italians - to exclude children from a wedding in Italy - as weddings are 'family affairs' , an opportunity for a family 'get-together' and children are always present. Most Italian families - certainly in Southern Italy, would not consider leaving their child with a stranger, even for a day or an evening - only with a grandparent or aunt. ...

English weddings seem to be a little different, and separate entertainment for the children in a neighbouring room would be considered an asset....so try the local hotel school, your restaurant venue should know the number or how to get it for you.

In London I envied people who always had a new joke to tell - but here I've an endless stream of stories to tell Italians, about what they're meant to do, and not!

But I think there would have been tears at the 9 year-old's birthday party my wife went to this week, had the entertainer been told that - since this isn't the Canaries - he'd have to leave.

No idea what they're like but these all claim to be kids' party arrangers of one sort or another..

The last ones are based in Portici - pretty sure the others all said they operate in the Campania area, but I did get distracted somewhat!

And these people supply party goods etc, so might be able to give you a lead if all else fails...

I see I've missed looking to see if any speak Englsih, but you'd presumably have a rotation of parents keeping an eye on things?
