Lunch on Amalfi Coast run and Capri advice

Off to Sunny Sorrento at the end of the week and as a bit of a treat we have booked a limo and driver to do the Amalfi coast run. Assuming the driver will have his own ideas on itinery and stops but where would forum readers suggest is a good place for lunch and would it require booking in advance. And how formal/casual. Someone has suggested Chez Black? Positano/Amalifi or Ravello? Any ideas.

We will also do our own thing by taking the ferry to Capri- what itinery would you do on Capri and someone has suggested going over in the afternoon when it is quieter when the cruiseday trip passengers may have left. Can you get back in the evening?

Hallo there

Hope you have had an excellent time.

Suspect you will back by the time this reaches you. Hope you made it to Villa St Michel whilst on Capri, which is a "must" - you sound like a couple who are new to Italy and, how to go about things.

If you choose to visit this area again I will be pleased to help with advice.

Best wishes.

La Tagliata high above the hills of Positano for lunch. Rustic, inexpensive, family run, stunning views.

To be fair it was suggested by our private driver (Gianpiero Fiorentino) but it was great last year.

I'd have dinner farther than very touristy restaurants like ones located in Positano and Amalfi for prices and food quality.

For example in Maiori there's a michelin star restaurant called "Il Faro di Capo d'Orso" or in Praiano the less expensive "Il Pirata" right on the sea, reachable by a romantic path in 5/10 minutes on foot from the main beach.

In terms of Capri, it will be busy at the port, and busy in the town--I suggest you take a pleasant stroll up to Villa Jovis, where the Emperor Tiberius ruled Rome for the last ten years of his life. It is well signed by ceramic tiles, and you leave the crowds behind in no time. There are amazing views along the entire walk.
