Sandwiches to go?

Just came here from Pompeii forum. Seems like there aren't too many restaurant options around Pompeii ruins. I was wondering if there are any cafes around Sorrento train station where we can buy sandwiches/fruits to take to Pompeii with us.

Finding snacks near the Sorrento & Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri stations won't be a problem for you. The Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri station is the station you get off at for the Pompeii excavations on the Circumvesuviana train line from Sorrento.

The train station is in the centre of Sorrento and there's a 'Standa' supermarket on the Corso Italia on the way from the Piazza Tasso main square to the station. Plus there are many cafes and restaurants in the area.

Around the Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri station, which is next to the main entrance to the Pompeii excavations, there are a number of stalls and places to buy snacks, pizza, sandwiches, panini, ice cream, fruit etc, some of which you can sit down at for a light meal.

Standa Supermarket just down from the train station in Sorrento has a great deli counter plus a great selection of fruit, veg, soft drinks to enable you to make your own picnic.

Also several take-away outlets selling panninis, cold pizza slices etc. across the road from the station. Make sure you take some chilled bottled water if doing Pompeii on a warm day - the site is huge and the sun can be brutal.

Can also recommend Bar Rita, a couple of shops away from the Standa supermarket in Sorrento

the train station is the blue trolley/

eat before you go in because there is no in and out at Pompeii.

There used to be a snack bar inside Pompeii. Not sure if it is open now. OK for a 3 pm snack at an all day trip.

There is an Autogrill cafeteria, with an icecream bar, inside the site.

Hi

Definitely agree about Bar Rita, I love this place. Also Bar Ercolano at Piazza Tasso for panini, pastries etc too.
