Fastest or easiest way from Naples airport to Sorrento

What's the easiest or fastest way to get from Naples airport to Sorrento. how long should it take? I think I read that there is a boat that goes from the airport to Sorrento, but I am interested in the easiest options. We arrive at about 6 pm and want to be able to go out for a decent meal. I suppose a taxi would be fast, but also very expensive I imagine. Any tips appreciated.

Just get the bus outside the terminal

10 euro per person, takes about 1 hour, nice modern coach.

The airport is inland - so not boat from the airport.

A taxi or car service would be around 70 euros. You could take the bus if it is conveniently timed for you or you could go to the Napoli Centrale train station and get the local train (in level of that train station) and take the Circumvesuviana to Sorrento - that train takes about 1 hour.

Thanks, the bus sounds like a good option.

Taxi will take 1 hour and about €90. Bus one and a half hours and €10. Don't bother with a boat from Naples at that time of night. Treat yourself and get a taxi door to door. We booked through our hotel and it cost us €85. Have a great time.

Does this bus run on a Sunday?

look at the link

www.curreriviaggi.it/inglese/E_index.html

yes it does run Sundays, its scheduled to take 1 hour 15 mins, our trip was under an hour, why you would spend an extra 80 euro to save 15 mins is beyond me.

Is it recommend to pre-book seats on the bus ? I am worried we place all our eggs in the "bus option" idea only to find all the sears full when we reach the bus.

You cannot pre book the bus, just turn up and pay the driver cash, If you miss one get the next one, but it was not full when we travelled on it, its a very modern bus. If you missed out entirely, which is I think impossible, you can get the Alibus to Garabaldi station and get the train, total cost about 11 euro, if all failed then get a taxi, but for the price they charge just get the bus!

Look at the timetable there's one bus every hour until 7.30pm

That was obviously too simple!

As of only a week or so ago, they've shifted all the buses - see post #2 in this....
