circumvesuviana between Sant'Agnello and Pompeii

Can anyone give info on the ease of using the circumvesuviana train between Sant'Agnello area and Pompeii? Heard that station was never open and no one there to assist in directing you on how to use the service. Thanks.

Cant understand that. I havebeen back from Sorrento for 2 weeks now and that station was always open then because I saw [people getting on and off.

There are a few stations that are not "open" in the sense that there are no employees there. To purchase a ticket find the nearest bar and ask there. For example, we went to see the Oplontis villa/excavations a few months ago and the Torre Annunziata station was unmanned. We went to the bar across the street, where we were able to by our tickets and grab a caffe while we waited for the train.

The ticket you need is an E3, which costs € 2.20 for one hour, or € 6.30 for a full day ticket. On the weekends you can get a full day ticket for € 3.50.

Most tobacco shops and newsstands should have these tickets for sale.

Maybe the station is unmanned? The Circumvesuviana train always made a stop there.

Just back from a holiday in the area, we caught the train twice from Sant'Agnello but it was at 8.27 in the morning. Station was open and we could buy tickets at this time. Maybe it's worth buying tickets the day before you need them and just stamp them on the day you travel.
