1 day in sorrento/Capri

My husband and I will be arriving in Sorrento may 16 at 8am from cruise line. We would like to see Capri, anacapri, and Sorrento. The excursions that are offered don't exactly fit all that we would like to do, and as this is the longest dock at 16 hours, thought, with the help of the forum, we could plan our own excursion. My husband is not in the greatest shape, but could do some distance walking. We love great food experiences, landscapes, gardens, architecture...some of the things that have peaked my interest; monte solaro, giardini di augusto, villa San Michele, piazza umberto, and in Sorrento the chiesa di San Francesco and the villa communale park. Are the flowers fairly abundant by mid May? Can you suggest a couple of here to here to here type scenarios to make the most of our time? The next day our cruise ship stops in Positano for 9 hours, so could save Sorrento sightseeing for that day? Thanks in advance!!

I stayed in Sorrento for 10 days in 2007. Although it is beautiful and a great transport hub, it is low on sights of it's own. The shopping there is great. If you soend time in Sorrento , you will have to spend less time on Capri. Spend whatver time you might have left in Sorrenot after you returen from Capri on the hydrofoil. Check on hydrofoil departure times fron Capri so you don't get stuck ther.

there are signs at the paths from the Piazzetta. Walk back to the bus stop to get to Anacapri bus

Viilla San Michele is on the Anacapri side. Take the bus from the bus station and get off in Anacapri at Piazza Vittoria

Very helpful, thank you very much! There has been a lot of talk about the blue grotto, going in May it seems there is a fair likelihood of rain. It sounds like the grotto is most impressive with full sun and a particular time of day....thoughts?
