Travel from Lake Como to Capri

Can anyone help out we are staying in Bellagio on Lake Como in September and want to head down to Capri. What options do we have for travel besides plane. We were thinking about taking a train. Are there boats from Rome?

No, no boats from Rome; I'd probably jump on a cheap EasyJet flight (which I have done) from Milan to Naples then boat to Capri from Naples.

Of course, you can also take the train all the way to Naples if you don't want to fly - you can do either.

The fast trains between Milano Centrale and Napoli Centrale are - on average - about 4.5 hours - so, it's not that long - some a bit shorter, some a bit longer.

From Bellagio, you can take the ferry over to Ravenna and get a train there to Milano Centrale and then be off to Naples.

Direct trains from Milano Centrale to Napoli Centrale take from four hours fifteen minutes. Unless you are taking a private transfer direct from Bellagio to Malpensa Airport, using the train would be little slower than flying, and could be faster depending on your connection times to and from the airports.
