Capri too Expensive to eat? Getting Nervous!!!!

I have five nights booked on Capri and a friend of mind just told me to switch to Ischia because the prices in Italy are through the roof to eat in the "fancy" locations...like Capri.

Please help!!!! I will be traveling in mid. Sept. and can still change my plans.

Need advice....as we don't want to be ripped off for every meal and spend a fortune on this trip!

Is it possible to have a great dinner for $35 -$50 a person with wine? Or what should we expect?

Will Ischia be much less expensive to dine? All advice needed. Thanks so much!!!

You won't starve ! I don't know what your tastes are, but all kinds of inexpensive take out possibilities as well as some good food at fair prices. The restaurant Virginiello comes to mind.

Capri is an extremely beautifulI place but totally different from Ischia. I would do my homework and decide what it is that you are looking for.

Capri is more exspensive on the whole to eat than Ischia, but the menus are posted and you can decide whether to go in or not. Restarants on the Anacapri side of the island are lower in price on the whole thatnm the Capri side. I spent 8 days on Capri (lodging on the Anacapri side) and then 3 days on Ischia in May 2008.

One of the most resonable restauratns on the Capri side is

Verginiello

Good Value.

Via Lo Palazzo

this is where goggle placed it.

Ate here before. noon-3pm, 7:30 midnight

credit cards. Good desserts but selcetion varies day by day.

Capri is very magical and it is like visiting Narnia with credit cards

Ischia is really nice, but different fron Capri. It has great shopping (merchandise is much cheaper on ischia than on Capri), great sites, restaurants and beaches. it all depends on exactly what you are looking for on your vacation.

When my daughter and I eat dinner in Italy, we each eat a first (pasta course) and we share a fish or meat course (second course) because otherwise we would be too full.

For lunch we often only eat a first course.

Yes, Capri is not cheap, but 35-50$ are a decent budget for a dinner!

Some restaurants where you can enjoy a good dinner around 40 $

Verginiello

Da Gelsomina

Le Arcate

Aumm Aumm

Vesyouiovo

E' Divino

And other good option under 20 €

I assume you mean 30-50 euros not dollars, correct? With the crummy exchange rate, I think it would be a bit challenging for $30 which is only 22 euros; $50 is 37 euros, which might be doable in some places. (www.xe.com for current exchange rates)

If an expensive meal is, by definition , a rip off, Capri is not for you.

Only a fool gets "ripped off." Menus with prices are clearly posted.

Camilla (like your new avatar, by the way) - I was responding to the OP who used $ signs vs euro so I thought he/she was thinking of prices in dollars which is not a good idea.

I agree - getting ripped off would mean being charged prices that are not clearly posted and menus are all posted so there is no surprise in the bill. So - no rip off but yes, the island can be pricey.
